Clea are a pop band from England, United Kingdom who met on TV show "Popstars : The Rivals". After being voted off the show and not making the group that would become the highly successful Girls Aloud, they decided to form their own band.
Founding members were Chloe Morgan (née Staines), Lynsey Brown, Emma Beard and Aimee Kearsley, their initials being the name of the group.
They got signed to 1967 records in 2003, and released their debut single "Download It" the same year. The single charted just outside the Top 20 at No.21.
In February 2004, they released their 2nd single "Stuck In The Middle", which again charted outside the Top 20. Chloe Staines left the band in May 2004 and her voice removed from subsequent re-releases, including the album that followed. Clea's debut album "Identity Crisis" was only released in Russia & Eastern Europe. It was not released in the UK & Ireland. Due to lack of sales, 1967 Records dropped them. They then resigned to Upside Management, and started releasing music independently.
In September 2005, they released a third single "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off", which barely charted in the Top 40. This was followed by "Lucky Like That" which charted at number 55. Even though they had a string of disappointing chart positions, Clea still decided to release a second album, "Trinity". This would be their first album release in the UK, which didn't even chart in the top 200.
According to their MySpace page, Clea split up in late 2006 after a string of commercial failures. Emma and Aimee went on to form duo LoveShy soon after, but then disbanded in July 2008.
Emma recently appeared on Paris Hilton's British Best Friend and placed 3rd. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
