There are at least two artists under the name Crest
1) Japanese doujin circle producing mainly rock touhou arranges. Their first album was Ryugetsusho ~ Moon over Mind (流月抄 ~ Moon over Mind) which was released on Mar 14, 2010 at Reitaisai 7 (Hakurei Shrine Reitaisai / 博麗神社例大祭). The album featured vocalists: Cherose, Yurika and ASK.
2) Kind of like The Brian Jonestown Massacre without the drugs. Crest went through countless line-up changes, were resident in two different cities at various points of their existence, played great shows to about four people, played terrible shows to lots of people, drove cars that broke down a lot on the way to gigs, got great reviews in NME, got shit reviews in NME, occasionally hit on moments of brilliance, sometimes underperformed, released some good and some mediocre singles, recorded an album which never got released, and have inexplicably reformed for a gig at the Norwich Arts Centre.
"Anyone remember New Wave Of New Nudge? No? Anyway, Crest are from 'Nudge', aka 'Norwich', and '68 Comeback' is one of those utterly luvverly things that could have only possibly come out on orange vinyl because it makes like a young Bobby Gillespie crooning over some of the loveliest slide guitar this side of Swindon or somewhere else in the Midwest. The B-side, 'I Have A Sister', is so sublimely post-rock it makes Aerial M look like, uh, Boney M. A true story, goddammit!" - Simon Williams, NME.
"Each of their singles contains more wit, soul and invention than most other acts' LPs. Crest are testament to the very real, very rude health of the indie scene, taking values like originality, integrity and talent to heart and leading "alternative" music into a definite purple patch. Try 'em. You will like 'em." - Stevie Chick, Melody Maker.
"Singer Matt Leuw warbles monotonously" - Mark Beaumont, NME Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
