Gaya sings, plays the piano, writes, dances, and acts. Gaya’s music is atmospheric and personal. It stems from her will to express herself. To understand, and to be understood.
Her performances are intimate and intense and should be, if for nothing else ‘be appreciated for their sincerity’, as she puts it herself.
Gaya has sung at occasions like the Kwakoe festival, in the Meervaart and the Pepsi Stage in Amsterdam at The Talent Night, the finales of Noord-Hollands Glorie in P60, in the Grolsch music Cafe at Breathing Bijlmer and at the Parade. Other places where she has sung are the Winston International, Dwaze Zaken, Bitterzoet, Vertigo (the Vondelpark in Amsterdam), Oosterkade, the Tricky Theater and radioshows like Amsterdam FM, Holland FM, Radio Rosa FM and Airplayradio. She participated in a musical workshop, De Nacht (The Night), which had three performances in P60 in Amstelveen. Besides singing, she also played piano in the performance, and wrote texts and songs for it.
Gaya appeared on the TV channel The Box in June 2005, in the program Moccah. The episode is still rerun every now and then. It can also be found here.
The 20th of January 2006, Gaya had her own show in PleinTheater in Amsterdam, "There where I want to be". During this show, next to her songs, she brought some of her poetry and her theatre. A fragment of the evening can be found here, and pictures are here.
In September of 2006, she appeared in EZMagazine, the online cultural magazine, as EZwriter of the month.
Gaya is a regular performer at the weekly open mike sessions in Sappho, organized by the Amsterdam Singer/songwriter Guild (ASG). She also organizes a female singer/songwriter evening here as well, called Girls n' Strings. This succesfull evening has already seen its fourth edition.
Currently, Gaya is busy with recording. She has a part in the Dutch sitcom 'Mengelmoes', which is shooting at the moment. She has also written the soundtrack for it. For the rest of her time, Gaya has decided to concentrate on studio recordings of her music. Read more on Last.fm.
