During the year 2001 Lowdown was formed by a group of metal loving friends.
There were few metal bands around in our area at that time and we became one of the first. We wanted to make music with extreme intensity and passion. Music you can feel! We started recording a couple of demos over a one-year period, and soon gained a local fan base. After our first gig, that is when we really got the attention. We signed up for the annual "Norwegian battle of the bands" in our hometown. We competed with 36 other bands, and yes, Lowdown went home with the sweet taste of victory. We were completely stoked! It was our first gig ever! A couple of months later we got signed to a Norwegian record label, and started touring all over Norway.
In 2003 we released our debut album “Unknown” in Europe. It received good reviews, but unfortunately we never got to tour outside of Norway. Nevertheless, we continued playing shows all over Norway. We got to play at many of the big Norwegian festivals like the Quart Festival and the Inferno festival, which featured bands like Dimmu Borgir and Shadow fall amongst many others. It was a dream come through when we got a support gig for Soulfly at Rockefeller in Oslo. The feedback after each live show was overwhelming, and our fan base just kept growing.
In 2005 we went through some line-up changes before we from February to March in 2006 we recorded our sophomore album “Antidote”.This album is simply pure energy. It is a ball of intense, groovy, “in your face” metal! We are firm believers in the fact that this album has a fresh and new approach to the scene, and it is not your ordinary sound. We've already received great reviews both in Norway and Europe. Lowdown is a hardworking dedicated band. We handle all the booking, the maintenance of our official webpage, the merchandise distributing and other important things ourselves. We work on a daily basis with promotion in the form of flyers, posters, stickers, sample CD’s, “MySpace”, and etc. Just recently, we got a street team started in the US. Also, we are in the works of establishing street teams in several countries in Europe. MySpace has proved to be a great channel for promoting, and our fan base has started to grow on a more worldwide base.
Lately the feedback has been extremely positive, and this just makes us more certain that with the right exposure and by touring relentlessly, we will “make it”. Driven by our passion for metal, the raging music we play and a certain business sense, we are determined to reach that goal! Read more on Last.fm. Long time comrades Tirade & C-Doc have been creating music and video works for many years. In 1994 they put a name to these curiosities and LOWdown was born. In 2006 they released their debut album on the SLAMjamz label: "groundZERO". groundZERO is a CD/DVD experience that attempts to recapture the breakbeat, bass-heavy Hip-Hop of the early 1990's mixed with the duo's trademark off-kilter humor. They followed the album up with the "dumpTRUCK EP". Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
