Soluna Samay Kettel Ziegler родилась 27 августа 1990 года в Гватемале. Ее родители оба музыканты - Герд Кеттель из Германии и Аннелис Зиглер из Швейцарии. Музыка Солуны навеяна различными направлениями - от Битлз до Бритни Спирс, давая ей свежее звучание, стиль, который сама певица называет цыганской поп-музыкой.
Сейчас базирующаяся в Копенгагене, где две песни с ее дебютного альбома уже ротируются на местном радио, Солуна готова начать покорение мира со своей музыкой.
"Should’ve Known Better" написали Remee, певец и один из ведущих Детского Евровидения 2003 (также был со-автором песни Германии на Евровидении 2008) и Isam B из датской группы "Outlandish". Soluna Samay (born Soluna Samay Kettel Ziegler on 27 August 1990, in Guatemala City, Guatemala) is a Danish singer of German/Swiss origin. Samay represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan with "Should've Known Better".
Samay's musician father Gerd G. Kettel (stage name: Gee Gee Kettel) is from Germany and her artisan mother is Annelis Ziegler from Switzerland. Samay grew up on the shores of Lake Atitlan. She attended the American Robert Muller LIFE school. She moved to Denmark in 2000 when her parents purchased a small farm on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. Samay is multilingual, being fluent in English, Danish, Spanish and German.
Samay's music career began at the, age of 5 when she joined her father on drums and soon after began singing along. At the age of 10 she switched to the electric bass, at 16 to double bass. She would spend her summers touring with her parents and playing music on the streets of Europe, and winters living in Guatemala. Soluna started to play the guitar around the age of 12, when she also wrote her first songs. In 2001,Soluna Samay and her father formed a duo, Gee Gee & Soluna.
Soluna recorded her debut album "Sing Out Loud" over a two year period, working with producers Jesper Mejlvang and Michael Friis. It was released by Baltic Records on 23 September 2011.
In late 2011, Soluna Samay was chosen as a wildcard entry by DR for the 2012 Danish National Song Contest, the winner of which would represent Denmark in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. She performed a song called "Should've Known Better", which was written by Remee Jackman, Isam Bachiri and Chief 1 and produced by the latter. She eventually won the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2012 and represented Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, finishing 23rd in a field of 42 countries.
