First known as One Year Nothing, they released an album on B and W records.[1] They played on the Vans Warped Tour in 2002 (before they knew how to play, according to vocalist Tony Rebis), and again in 2006—filling the "Bar-Ba_Q" slot, meaning they played and then cooked for the other bands.[2] Their first album sold 25,000 records in a month, becoming the second band in history to chart on Billboard not having a distribution deal.[1] [3]
The band was named The Sunstreak when they released their major label debut, Once Upon A Lie,[4] on Merovingian, a sublabel owned by EMI.[2]
In February 2010, fellow Rochester local band Intrinsic had turned down an opportunity to perform together with The Sunstreak. Later it was learned that Intrinsic never turned it down, but were kicked off the bill for reasons unknown to them both. This resulted in the two trash talking each other via facebook.[5] Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
Armed with an inspiring work ethic, a nonstop touring regimen and most importantly, great songs, The Sunstreak have been bringing their own brand of Rock to the rest of the world since 2005. The Sunstreak, based out of Rochester NY is comprised of Jason Sarkis (bass), Tony Rebis (vocals), Jack Flynn (guitar, vocals), Gary Foster (drums), and David Schuler (guitar, synth, vocals). The Sunstreak has released their self-titled and self produced debut full length on B and W Records. The band has hit the ground running since the Summer of 2006 on the Vans Warped Tour, selling just over 25,000 records in 2 months and leading them to be the second band in history to post on the Billboard charts without a distribution deal (notably #33 on the Top Independent albums as well as #30 in overall Heatseakers.) With the tail end of 2006 just around the corner, The Sunstreak show no signs of slowing down, look for them in a city near you. Read more on Last.fm.
