* http://hiphopinfinity.com/Underground/Benefit.htmOnce there was a little kid named BenefitWalked around town with a frown, face down, lookin bentHad problems inside, his little sister just diedKeep your head up little man, all you got is your prideHe said "the world doesn`t want me, and neither does my daddyHe`d rather get drunk and puff blunts then have a family"That`s real, and ain`t nothing realer then thatThe world is much colder then the steal of a gatBut yet he moved on, he fought to stay strongIn this cold world, to stay warm he put a jacket onMade of 100 percent painThe label said the only way to wash it was to stand on the rainBut he still was cold, the other kids were oldAll he really wanted in life was Jordan`s and goldThen he`d be set, getting fine girls in berretsSee him with a boom box and fat boys cassettesIf he got into a fight, he`d throw downBut he`s a little skinny kid, about 70 poundsAnd he had a loud mouth so nobody stepped to himBut I guess if they would`ve, well I guess that he`d do `emBut it didn`t get to that, this little aristocratTryin to live phat, smashing mail boxes with batsRunnin wild through the streets, his mouth would make peaceUsed to play football in mud with baseball cleatsThat`s the life in my memory inbedded in my brainAs he started growing, things started to change(Hook)Who has the right to know?My life`s a standing flowWho can say, what`s right or wrong for people? As Benefit got older he started to realizeEverybody`s smile was just jealousy in disguiseIf he turned his back, how is that, a knife would be in itDraw my face-to-face in any place, no one would begin itIf they knew, what this kid had been throughNothing nice, ?fest? sacrifice off of lifes menuBut things lately, were starting to get crazyAnd if they stuck around maybe, his mom would lose a babySo they broke out, headed down south on routeThis kid was still actin wild, thought he was tough no doubtDealt a difficult hand, but he had to play with itEmotionally disturbed when the kid never quit itImmediately took charge when in his new neighborhoodMakes me laugh thinkin when he made forts from woodAnd if anybody touched `em, then that`s the razzIf anybody frontin, to the creak they get cashedIn school, everybody sayin "who`s the new kid?""I heard he`s from Chicago, last week know what he didSuch and such," that`s how rumors get startedBut at lunch acting all retarded eatin Capt`n CrunchThought he was funny, little dummy makin a sceneLookin happy on the outside, but inside meanLotta anger built up, from things in the pastSuch an unreal life, reality hard to graspThat`s the life in my memory inbedded in my brainAs he started growin, things started to change(Hook)Who has the right to know?My life`s a steady flow.Who can say, what`s right or wrong for people? He moved again, now his moves totaled thirteen timesStarted gettin serious, writin serious rhymesHe began workin, hustling the companyPockets full of cash, now every day a shopping spreeGot away with it, finally got caught and ?bullshitted? They didn`t fire `em, instead the job he quittedHis life is slowed down, different then in the beginningOnly worse, cause little bitches had him sinningFell in love one time, maybe twice, who knowsOnly problem was the girls weren`t nice, but hoesIt was a big mistake, messed up the kinds mindstateThe trade? his best-friends for nice ass and a dateWait, what`s goin on here? the girls left himNow he`s scarred from left ear to right earThat`s his whole brain, now his lights are gettin dimCause what he did to his best friends, happened to himNow he cares about nothin, feeling sick everydayThank God, eventually the pain went awayNow he`s grown mad, then he ever has beenUp late at night at home, his only friend is his penWritin angry to get out frustration out through poetryTreating girls the exact opposite of noblelyThe struggle continues on, documented in every songMade it this far, confident he`ll live longThat`s the life in my memory, inbedded in my brainAnd it`s true as he grew, things did change(Hook x3)Who has the right to know?My life`s a steady flowWho can say, what`s right or wrong for people?
