Burns Robert - Parcel O` Rogues слова песни

Parcel o` Rogues================Fareweel to a` oor Scottish fameFareweel oor ancient gloryFareweel even tae oor Scottish nameSae famed in martial storyNoo Sark runs o`er the Solway sandsTweed runs tae the oceanTae mark where England`s province standsSuch a parcel o` rogues in a nationWhat force or guile could not subdueThrough many wor-like agesIs rocked now by the coward fewFor hireling traitor`s wagesThe English steel we could disdainSecure in valour`s stationBut English gold has been oor baneSuch a parcel o` rogues in a nationO would or I had seen the dayThat treason thus would sell usMy old grey heid had lain in clayWi` Bruce and loyal WallaceBut pith and power till my last hourI`ll mak` this declarationWe are bought and sold for English goldSuch a parcel o` rogues in a nation[ Written by Robert Burns as a protest against the Act of Union, 1707, whichjoined the parliaments of England and Scotland. Although initially againstthe Act, the Scottish parliament soon agreed when offered a large pensioneach by the English government. The people had no say, and thus were`bought and sold for English gold`. They are still paying the price. ]
