carpenters - Goofus слова песни

I was born on a farm out in iowaA flaming youth I was bound I would fly awayI packed my grip and I grabbed my saxophoneCant read notes, but I play anything by earI made up tunes on the sounds that I used to hearWhen Id start to play folks to say"sounds a little goofus to me"(*) cornfed chords appeal to meI like rustic harmonyHold a note and change the keyHey but thats "goofus"Not according to the rulesThat you learn in music schoolsBut the folks just dance like foolsThey sure go for " goofus"Got a job but I just couldnt keep it longThe leader said that I played all the music wrongSo I stepped out with an outfit of my own(**) got together a new kind of orchestraAnd we all played just the same "goofus" harmonyAnd I must admit we made a hit"goofus" has been lucky for meRepeat (*)Repeat (**)
