Текст песни cave nick - The Carny

cave nick - The Carny слова песни

And no-one saw the carny goAnd the weeks flew byUntil they moved on the showLeaving his caravan behindIt was parked out on the south east ridgeAnd as the company crossed the bridgeWith the first rain filling the bone-dry river bedIt shone, just so, upon the edgeDog-boy, atlas, half-man, the geeks, the hired handsThere was not one among them that did not cas an eye behindIn the hope that the carny would return to his own kindAnd the carny had a horse, all skin and boneA bow-backed nag, that he named "sorrow"How it is buried in a shallow graveIn the then parched meadowAnd the dwarves were given the task of digging the ditchAnd laying the nag`s carcass in the groundAnd boss Bellini, waving his smoking pistol aroundsaying "The nag is dead Meat""We caint afford to carry dead weight"The whole company standing aboutNot making a soundAnd turning to dwarves perched on the enclosure gateThe boss says "Bury this lump of crow bait"And thean the rain cameEverybody running for their wagonsTying all the canvas flaps downThe mangy cats crowling in ther cagesThe bird-girl flapping and squawking aroundThe whole valley reeking of wet beastWet beast and rotten hayFreak and brute creationPacked up and on their wayThe three dwarves peering from their wagon`s hindMoses says to Noah "We shoulda dugga deepa one"Their grizzled faces like dying moonsStill dirty from the digging doneAnd as the company passed from the valleyInto a higher groundThe rain beat on the ridge and on the meadowAnd on the moundUntil nothing was left, nothing at allExcept the body of sorrowThat rose in timeTo float upon the surface of the eaten soilAnd a murder of crows did circle roundFirst one, then the others flapping blackly downAnd the carny`s van still sat upon the edgeTilting slowly as the firm ground turned to sludgeAnd the rain it hammered downAnd no-one saw the carny goI say it`s funny how things go
