Darkwoods My Betrothed - The Preacher Came To Town слова песни

A peaceful town down by the lakeA cradle of goodness and righteousness it was saidQuite prosperous one might addRye fields, cattle, and the riches of the lakeFallacious was their dormancy of shelterBlindfolded had they themselves with the shadow of the crossThis dormancy lasted until a dusk in AugustA preacher came, handsome enough to wet any ladyHe was greeted with warmth and friendlinessThough a bit of jealousy showed on the looks of the menNobody wondered why he spoke no words of godAnd his eyes were glued to women`s bodiesNobody simply paid any attention to itEspecially the women enchanted by his attractivenessUntil one day the paint on the church walls began to crumbleThe crop festered and the cattle began to dieThe wives disappeared just before midnightOnly return before the first rays of sunriseIt began to show at the end of the monthThe crop and the cattle dead, ground frozen, famine awaitedVanished was the atmosphere of honesty and good willPeople became wary of each other for anybody could haveEvoked this curse upon them
