Epmd - Give the People слова песни

Chorus: *sung hook from an R&B record*Got to give the peopleGive the people what they wantLadies and Gentlemen (repeat 2X)Verse One: Erick SermonWhen I came out with my first rap jamI had no idea that the record would slamIt did real good without radio playMaybe at night but no airplay in the dayI couldn`t understand why to be exactOur music was good and I was far from wackThen came the answer, commercial was the keyTo get airplay and a spot on TVLike Ed Lover and Doctor Dre from Yo! MTV RapsA show, mainly for the blackAnd still we can`t ill, cause to them that`s wrongCause like P.E. said, we`re too black and too strongBut hey, what can I say(Brothers and sisters) that`s a price a rapper must payChorusVerse Two: PMDAs airwaves collapse rap shows at a standstillSome racial circuits the frequencies can`t handleThe funk tracks produced by EPMDBut it`s a fat jam, that will never win a grammyUnless we sellout and kill the black movement deadWhich means swallow our pride and become flunkies insteadAnd stop the rap about freedom, thoughts of a black presidentAnd rap about a black crack, the mayor in our residenceGive me a break brothers, it`s time to take a standAnd kill that no sir, yes sir, and thank you ma`amCuz the word is a luxury a black man can`t affordThat`s why poverty`s on the rise and we still ignoredAnd it`s a setback and yet the clock still ticksAnd if we let it, rap would be run by politicsI read it somewhere that every man`s created equalBut not in this day and age, maybe in the sequelWhich means next time, so observe these rhymesAnd take a stand and go for yours cause I`m going for mineThat`s why IChorusVerse Three: Erick Sermon, PMDWhy is that when wrong is done by the black It`s blown out of proportion and immediately attackedBy the press and yes, conflict is caused By the kids at concerts who bumrush the doorsOne child gets hurt, the press gets pesty But what about the Beatles, G, and Elvis PresleySame stuff was rough, rap does not cause violenceSo (Fight the Power) and make them understandBut too much power and you might get bannedSo if you want airplay You can`t be too black and hey, watch what you say, but ayoChorus: to fade
