Genius - Those Were The Days слова песни

Those were the days, back in junior highFor an 8th grader, my style was kinda flyAnd just to prove I was an mc proI often sponsored a classroom showAnd the hype part of my imaginationWas making my homeroom a hip hop stationMinutes before the late bell would ringI would greet the audience and then Ill swingA lyric or two as the students barkedBeacuse my rhymes had sparkedOff somethign causing the class to mingleTo a rhythm which is now a 12" singleLetting off many styles of hip hopHolding the mic that I made in wood shopForget gold, my key chain was a cableTwo math textbooks were turntablesAnd for a mixer, something much coolerA penny being cross faded on a rulerMeasuring dope beats that were flexedFrom hands that played a drum roll on a deskFrom my home girl, her name, fly as emorySweet memoryI remember sitting in my art classDrawing up lyrics kinda fastThe outcome, a masterpieceLive shows with hyped up rhymes releasedAs if lyrics were flowing from the heavens aboveIll grab a mic and provoke a push to a shoveFrom boys and girls who broke necks to seeThe lyrics g.o.d.Those were the daysNow its high school, lunch rooms the sceneAnd Im ready to flip the routingIn the cafeteria, period threeAnd here I come with the jvcI go in my pocket and pull out a micPlug it in, check one-two...alrightNow who wanna show and prove their mc skills? A brother stepped forward and tried to get illBut when it came time to live out his nameHe kicked rhymes that all sounded the sameBut I did him in with a matter of timeAnd he was done with one victorious rhymeHe was shocked because he knew he was rockedAlong with his classmates from off his blockYo!, Im telling you, I flipped his whole crewOne against one or one against twoOr three or four brothers who swore they can rhymeBattled me and got taken out every timeFrom my style and my dope profilePlus the period of time that I rocked for awhileAs a motivated, dominated supreme forceCultivated, activated cream and sourceThe wise educated and born to beThe one who would flip an mcThose were the days
