song: Woodsonartist: The Get Up Kidsalbum: All Stars EPtabbed by: John Krohn (jkrohn@scs.k12.mi.us)This song is in a three way tie for my favorite Get Up Kids song.. If you didn`t know, It`s one of the few songs Jim sings.. I like playing Jim`s songs because his vocal range is lower than Matt`s, so I can actually sing all his parts comfortably. I heard Jim say at a concert that this was the first song they wrote together as a band. Damn, they were freakin` awesome right from the get-go. Robbie Pope is a pretty cool guy... not only are his basslines fun and awesome sounding, but I met him after a show, and he complimented my Jethro Tull shirt. He also kissed my girlfriend`s hand, a real smooth character! That was the show in Chicago when they played with Cheap Trick. Ahh, memories... anyway...I`m gonna list all the parts first, then the order of the parts. Also, I try to indicate rythyms whenever possible, which sometimes seems to clutter things, and make "1"`s look like "11"s and such. Just keep that in mind and you won`t be so confused. Rythyms are oh-so-very important as a bassist, because it`s locking your picking in with the bass drum that gives the listener a feeling of "tightness". by the way a "/" is a quick slide up and back down the neck, a cool embellishment that robbie likes to do.intro part 1G --------------------------------D --------------------------------A 0000000000000000----------------E ----------------3333333333333333intro part 2G --------------------------------D --------------------------------A 0000000000000333----------------E ----------------3333333333333333intro part 3G ---------------------------------D ---------------------------------A ---------------------------------E 55-5/-3-33-3-3/-11-111-1-11-1-11 X4 note, these ^ are all "1"s, i just wanted to try to give you an idea of the rythym i use when i play this part. also note, the last time intro 3 is played, end with a high F on the 3rd fret of the D string. verse part 1G ----------------------D 32---------32---------A --3-333-222--3-333-222E ---------------------- verse part 2aG -------------------------------------D -------------------------------------A 33-333-3-33-3-33/15-15-15h17 20 19 15E -------------------------------------verse part 2bG -------------------------------------D -------------------------------------A 33-333-3-33-3-33/8-8-88-7 hold last noteE -------------------------------------pre-chorus is same as intro part 3chorusG --------------------------------------------------------D -----------------------17-------------------------------A 55555----33333/15/1917---------------------------------E -------------------------3-333-333-333-3-1-111-111-111-1 X2 ^ ^ ^ ^ note, the second chorus has an extra repetition of this part at the endinterludeG -D -A 5 (hold for 4 measures first time, 15 measures with feedback second time)E -outro 1G -----------------------------------------------------------D -----------------------------------------------------------A 3-33-33-33h5h7---------------------------------------------E ----------------5-55-55-55-5/3-33-33-33-3-3-1-11-11-11-1-1 X4 ^^ ^^ ^^once again, these are one`s grouped in rythyms, not elevens outro 2G --------------------------D --------------------------A --------------------------E 5-555-3-33/1-X1-X1-X1-X11 X4 X`s are muted strings ^order:intro 1intro 2intro 1intro 2intro 1intro 3 verse 1verse 2averse 1verse 2bverse 1pre-choruschorus interludeverse 2averse 1verse 2bverse 1pre-choruschorusinterludeoutro 1outro 2
