Hank Williams - On The Banks of The Old Ponchartrain слова песни

Recorded by: hank williams, sr.Written by: hank williams sr. & ramona vincentI [a] travelled from [a7] texas to [d] old louis-[a] anneThru valleys, oer mountains and [e7] plainsBoth [a] footsore and [a7] weary I [d] rested a-[a] whileOn the [e7] banks of the old ponchar-[a] train. The fairest young maiden that I ever sawPassed by as it started to rainWe both found a shelter beneath the same treeOn the banks of the old ponchartrain. We hid from the shower an hour or soShe asked me how long Id remainI told her that Id spend the rest of my daysOn the banks of the old ponchartrain.I just couldnt tell her that I ran awayFrom jail on a west texas plainI prayed in my heart I would never be foundOn the banks of the old ponchartrain. Then one day a man put his hand on my armAnd said I must go west againI left her alone without saying goodbyeOn the banks of the old ponchartrain.Tonight as I sit here alone in my cellI know that shes waiting in vainIm hoping and praying someday to returnTo the banks of the old ponchartrain.
