I`ve watched himplay this song up-close several times, and it still amazes me. If you`venever seen him up-close, I`ll describe it. He holds the pick normally betweenhis thumb and fore finger. His middle, ring, and pinky fingers of his righthand have long nails (almost 1/3 inch maybe) which he uses to finger pick thehigh strings WHILE picking with the pick. I have tried this, but can`t do it,so I just use my fingers and thumb (no pick) for the verses. Without the longfingernails and pick, the sound isn`t as crystal clear, but what can you do?Set delay time to about 425 milliseconds, about 3 repeats, and alot of delay inthe mix (almost 100%). Steve uses EMG single coil active pickups, Roland JazzChorus 120 amps for the clean parts, TC Electronics delay units, AlesisQuadraverb, MIDI octopus, and bunch of other stuff (no kidding).
