Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - John Finn`s Wife слова песни

Well the night was deep and the night was darkAnd I was at the old dance-hall on the edge of townSome big ceremony was going downDancers writhed and squirmed and then,Came apart and then writhed againLike squirming flies on a pinIn the heat and in the dinYes, in the heat and in the dinI fell to thinking about brand new wife of mad John FinnWell, midnite came and clock did strikeAnd in she came, did John Finn`s wifeWith legs like scissors and butcher`s knivesA tattooed breast and flaming eyesAnd a crimson carnation in her teethCarving her way through the dance floorAnd I`m standing over by the bandstandEvery eye gaping on John Finn`s wifeYeah, every eye gaping on John Finn`s wifeNow John Finn`s wife was something of a mysteryIn a town where to share a sworn secret was a solemn dutyI had brass knuckles and a bolo knifeOver near the bandstand with John Finn`s wifeShe got perfumed breasts and raven hairSprinkled with wedding confettisAnd a gang of garrotters were all giving me staresArmed, as they were, with machetesAnd the night through the window was full of lightsWinking and awatching at John Finns` wifeWinking and awatching at John Finns` wifeNext came the cops, all out on the townBut it don`t look like no trouble thereAs they head for the bar in their lumpy suitsAnd I slip my hand between the thighs of John Finn`s wifeAnd they seemed to yawn awake, her thingsIt was a warm and very ferocious nightThe moon full of blood and lightAnd my eyes grew small and my eyes grew tightAs I plotted in the ear of John Finns` wifeEnter John Finn in his shrunken suitWith his quick black eyes and black cherootWith his filled-down teeth and a hobnail bootAnd his fists full of pistols in his pocketsAiming at me and aiming at his wifeThe band fall silent fearing for their livesAnd with fear in my guts like tangled twineCause all I got is brass knuckles and a bolo knifeAnd mad John Finns` wife is allAnd the three of us walk out of the hallNow the night bore down upon us allYou could hear the crickets in the thickets callAnd guns did flare and guns did bawlAnd I planted my bolo knife in the neckOf mad John Finn. I took his wretched lifeNow I`m over near the bandstandEvery hand moving on John Finns` wifeEvery hand moving on John Finns` wifeAnd John Finns` wifeTook all the flowers downFrom her hairAnd threw them on the groundAnd the flies did humAnd the flies did buzz aroundPoor John FinnLying dead upon the groundLying dead upon the ground
