Email: A.Fung@stud.man.ac.ukTalk Tonight - Written by Noel GallagherSecond song on the Oasis "Some Might Say" CD single. This, I hope, is a fairly accurate transcription of this beautiful NoelGallagher song. Skip the notes ifyou`re already familiar with it. But you may find some usefulsuggestions!!! Hope you enjoy it,please mail me with any thoughts, suggestions or corrections.Keith BradnamNotes on playing:1) To get the right sound, this song needs to be played as a mixture ofstrumming and picking. For the verse, a couple orso strums on each chord, and then pick the E, B and G strings in thatorder. I`ve noticed that sometimes Noel only plucksthe E, and B string, and it seems that the "D" note played on the B stringgives quite a characteristic quality to the song.2) In the chorus (just after "I want to talk tonight...") there is somequick picking following the G chord. I.e. G D Dsus4 D Em-3--3----2--3---2-------0------0----0------------3----0------0-------------------2--0------0----------------------2------2----------------------2------3----------------------0-----If you don`t want to pick this, try strumming: G, D, Dsus4, D, Dsus4, D,Em (strumming the D chords very quickly!),which also sounds ok!3) There are loads of chords in this song (see below), and I`ve found thatmany others can be used which sound ok. Youcan easily substitute Am for A7sus4 or Cadd9 for C9. But I`m fairly sure(apart from right at the end, see note 4) that theseare the chords as played on the song, i.e. on the CD. I`ve noticed that inlive versions, Noel has opted for simpler chordsand use of more strumming, as opposed to picking out notes. I guess ifNoel plays it both ways, then this means there`s noofficial way of doing it. But this is the most...fullsome sound, in myopinion :)At the part in the song where he sings "and you and me see how we are". Itfeels like you can play Am, Em7, C. For somereason the B note on the second string of the Em7 chord feels right, buthe doesn`t play it!!! He just plays A7sus4, Cadd9!Although when he played live with Paul Weller, Paul did play that Em7chord on the keyboard.4) Right at the end of the song, there is some very quick strumming in therepeat chorus. I`m unsure if I`ve got the exactnature of these chords right, although playing G,D,C,D quickly (change oneach beat) does sound about right (but I acceptthat there`s probably an add9 in there somewhere!). Also I`m still alittle hazy as to how the words "`bout how you savedmy life" are sung over this part.5) In the chorus, there are two places where the line "I wan`t to talktonight" can be sung. Noel sings this line in bothplaces (it changes at the end) so beware!6) Any lyrics in brackets indicate backing vocals.7) Additional notes are enclosed in asterisks where appropriateChordsNumbers refer to fret positions on each of the six (EADGBe) strings.Note that there are two versions of G used (I think).Em7 022030Asus4 002230C9 032330A7sus4 002030Cadd9 032030G 320003G2 320033D x00232Dsus4 x00233C 032010Em 022000 The SongIntro:Em7 *let it ring for a bar...*Em7, Asus4, C9, G2, A7sus4, Cadd9Verse:Em7Sitting on my own, chewing on a bone Asus4A thousand, million miles from home, C9 G2 A7sus4 Cadd9When something, hit me, somewhere right between the eyes.Em7Sleeping on a plane, you know you can`t complain Asus4You took your last chance, once again.
