hellohere is a new tab that gary von collin was kind enough to send me.also included is a pavement tuning spiel. i am looking for sonic youth tabs and minutemen tabs for my tabarchives.http://www.magick.net/~michael/tab.htmlandhttp://www.magick.net/~michael/music8.htmltake care, michael++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++From: Gary Von Colln Date sent: Thu, 25 Apr 96 17:58:14 EDTTo: pavement@uts.edu.auCopies to: jberk1@mailhost.tcs.tulane.edu, michael@magick.net, jasepiol@leland.stanford.edu, rabst59@pitt.eduSubject: Gold Sounds Tab@Song: Gold SoundzWritten by PavementRecorded by Pavement on album "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" (Matador)File format: tabTranscription by Gary Von Colln(lyrics taken from http://www.pitt.edu/~rabst59/pave/lyrics/gold)Here`s the basic chord progression. The A-B-D progression is alsoused in the instrumental interlude. If you don`t want to bother withthe Dsus2 and Bsus2 just play D and B instead, it will still soundgood.****************************************************************************AGo back to those gold soundz B DAnd keep my affect to yourself ABecause it`s nothing that I don`t like B DIs it a crisis or a boring change AWhen it`s central, so essential B DIt has a nice ring when you laugh AAt the low-life opinions B DAnd they`re coming to the chorus now Fm Dsus2I keep my address to yourself Bsus2Cause we need secrets Dsus2We need secret, cret, cret, cret, crets ABack right nowBecause I never want to make you feelThat you`re social, never ignorant soulBelieve in what you want to doAnd do you think that is a major flawWhen they rise up in the falling rainAnd if you stay around with your knuckles ground downThe trials over, the weapon`s foundKeep my address to myselfCause it`s secretCause it`s secret, cret, cret, cret, cret, cret, cret, cret, cret, cret, cret, cret,Back right nowSo drunk in the august sunAnd you`re the kind of girl I likeBecause you`re empty, and I`m emptyAnd you can never quarantine the pastDid you remember in DecemberThat I won`t eat you when I`m goneAnd if I go there ,I won`t stay thereBecause I`m sitting here too longI`ve been sitting here too longAnd I`ve been wastingAllocating outwardFor the last wordLast words come upAll you`ve got to wait****************************************************************************Now for some "Pavement chords". First retune your guitar toC-G-D-G-B-B (fat E string down 4 frets in pitch, A string down 2 fretsin pitch, thin E sting down 5 frets in pitch). Once you`ve retunedthese are the chord shapes: A(I) A(II) B(I) B(II) Bsus2 D(I) D(II) Dsus2FmB-|------------------------------------------------------------------------B-|--2-------10--------4-------12-----4--------7-----15------7-------10----G-|--2--------9--------4-------11-----6--------7-----14------9-------11----D-|--2-------11--------4-------13-----4--------7-----16------7-------11----G-|--2--------9--------4-------11-----4--------7-----14------7-------11----C-|-----------9----------------11--------------------14--------------------The (I) or (II) just indicates position, e.g. A(I) is an A major, played in the first position (along the guitar neck), while A(II) isalso A major but played in the second position.Note that the first string is not played in any of the above chords.Since the first and second strings are tuned the same, if you want, you can fret the first string the same as the second and play it.>From listening to the recording, I think the two guitars play asfollows:verses: guitar 1: A(I) - B(I) - D(I) guitar 2: A(II) - A(II) - A(II)Here guitar 2 is playing the A(II) the whole time. Listen for thosehigh notes on the record, especially during the first verse whenguitar 1 is quit.chorus: both: Fm - Dsus2 - Bsus2 - Dsus2intrumental interlude (roughly): guitar 1: A(I) - B(I) - D(I) guitar 2: A(II) - B(II) - D(II)The interlude is pretty free form so this simple pattern isn`t thewhole story, but you can play around with these chords and find a lotof the sounds on the record.michael p mccullough ++++ Klamath Falls OR 1.541.884.3278michael@magick.net michaelm@cdsnet.netall moanday, tearsday, wailsday, thumpsday, frightday, shatterday (joyce/FW)http://www.magick.net/~michael/ http://www.magick.net/~michael/music.html
