Ridgway Stan - The Roadblock слова песни

News travels fast in a small desert townSo it wasn`t long at all before the word got aroundThat a killin` mad car was headed their waySo the sheriff and the boys were gonna stop himOut on the highwayRight where it intersected big black rockSo it wasn`t long at allBefore the whole town was out standin` `roundHammerin` a nail and buildin` up a prideIn a roadblockThe mayor`s wife sat in the shadeAnd talked her way through a few good liesWhile her husband practiced his acceptance speechFor a medal from the F.B.I.And Granny rocked back in her chair and said,"Just what did this man do?"While some idiot kids from schoolAte the dirty sno-cones colored red, white and blueAt the roadblockThen the local paper jumped the gunAnd printed the big headline"Town is saved from killer car with roadblock at stateline"Three miles down the highway in a Chevy `69Were a pair of crazy eyeballsJumpin` left and right in timeTo an eight track tape playin` Foghat and Jethro TullAnd a gasoline soaked hand shiftin`A little plastic skullAnd on the arm a blue tattoo that read"I`m a son of a bitch"A map open on the front seatLeather black as pitchOne foot slammed on the gas, no shoeJust an argyle sockAndthat car was screamin` wild down the highwayLike lightnin` towards the roadblockThen all eyes turned down the highwayTo a big cloud of smokeAnd Granny went into a mild state of shock and started to chokeAnd then a boy up in a tree yelled out, "Here he comes..."Then twenty men strong aimed and fired point blankNineteen shotguns...Well the next day the sheriff just tried to stallWhile they buried the body out behind a wallThe newspaper said, "Killer still on the lamSeems the boys at the roadblock shot the wrong manNobody really knew just who he wasHe was drivin` a Camaro with dashboard fuzzThey all burned the car right there at big black rockAnd no one ever said a word at all againAbout a roadblock-----------------------------------------------------------------------
