Текст песни Shawn Mullins - Joshua

Shawn Mullins - Joshua слова песни

Joshua was an old man his beard like mountain snowAnd when I was a boy we`d have jam sessionsI`d sneak off to old Sharptop with my guitar I would goWhen I should`ve been in school learning my lessonsAnd he`d sip a little moonshine and I`d smoke a corncob pipeWe`d pick all day until our fingers bledRight around supper time I`d run home in the nightJust in time to get a whoopin from my dadMy friend Josh would tell me pickin won`t pay the rentWell I set out to prove him wrong in timeAnd I don`t guess I can recall all the hours that I spentJust beatin on that old flat top of mineMe and my friend Joshua Lord we must have played em allAnd I got where I could put the old man to shameBut I don`t guess it ever seemed to bother Josh at allHe still loved to pick em just the sameCHORUSOH________Way back whenHe was 65 I was 10And I will never be as free______againOH________Way back whenThe summers flew by quickly as Josh and I spent our timeWriting words to songs from memories from his pastHe`d tell me about the way it was and I`d find the perfect rhymeAnd I couldn`t believe how he wrote our songs so fastAnd I never knew an old man so full of lifeThe love we had was so hard to explainAnd I remember how the tears fell when he spoke of his late wifeAnd I`d give him my 6 string to ease the painCHORUSAnd in late November I knocked on his cabin doorAnd I knocked and knocked but Joshua never cameI still remember how he laid there on the floorAnd I went home a cryin in the rain CHORUSOH________Way back whenHe was 65 I was 10And I will never find a friend like him againOh___________________________Way back whenOh___________________________Way back when
