Текст песни Stan Ridgway - The Roadblock

Stan Ridgway - The Roadblock слова песни

News travels fast in a small desert townSo it wasnt long at all before the word got aroundThat a killin mad car was headed their waySo the sheriff and the boys were gonna stop im out on the highwayRight where it intersected big black rockSo it wasnt long at allBefore the whole town was standin roundHammerin a nail and buildin up a pride in a roadblockJust hangin round a roadblockThe mayors wife sat in the shadeAnd talked her way through a few good liesWhile her husband practiced his acceptance speechFor a medal from the f.b.i.And granny rocked back in her chair and said"just what did this man do? "While some idiot kids ate dirtySno-cones colored red white and blueAt the roadblockJust hangin round a roadblock (x3)Then the local paper jumped the gunAnd printed the big headlineTown is saved from killer carWith roadblock at statelineThree miles down the highway in a chevy 69Were a pair of crazy eyeballs jumpin left and right in timeTo an eight-track tape playin foghat and jethro tullAnd a gasoline-soaked hand shiftin a little plastic skullAnd on the arm, a blue tattoo that read "im a son of a bitch!"A map open on the front seatccleather, black as pitchOne foot slammed on the gasccno shoe, just an argyle sockAnd that car was screamin wild down the highway, like lightningToward the roadblockRight towards the roadblockThen all eyes turned down the highway towards a big cloud of smokeAnd granny went into a mild state of shock and started to chokeAnd a boy up in a tree yelled out, "here it come"Then twenty men strong aimed and fired point-blank nineteen shotgunsWell, the next day, the sheriff just tried to stallWhile they buried the body out behind a wallThe newspaper said "killer still on the lamccSeems the boys at the roadblock got the wrong man"Nobody really knew just who he wasHe was drivin a camaro with dashboard fuzzThey all burned a car right there in big black rockAnd no one ever said a word at all again1About a roadblockNot about a roadblockWhooo! about a roadblockNot about a roadblock, yeah....Not about a roadblock
