Sudden Death - State of the Art слова песни

[Verse One: Tom Rockwell - Sudden Death]I took a look at the state of hip-hop, and it made my jaw dropCcause it`s mostly just sloppy popI`ve watched the quality drop over the yearsEven the rap pioneers managed to bring me to tearsIt`s like everybody stopped trying, but people keep buyingwhich keeps the record companies complyingAnd rappers gettin high and puttin out this crapIt`s pathetic what passes on the radio as rapI`m flippin down the dial then I flip it the birdCause every song that I hear is just totally absurdIt`s about as fresh as a turdFestering on the sidewalk as I sit there gesturingat the radio like the DJ`s can see meI`m screamin so my windows got steamyEvery song sounds the same, if they`re lookin for famewhy do their records sound so damn lame? The beat is a cheesy remix or a cheap rip offAnd the rappers come off soundin softCause none of it rhymes and it sounds all wrongIt`s like they`re rappin over the beat from the previous songI get the impression that they really don`t carewhat it sounds like as long as it`s played on the airAnd the record companies`ll take care of that partIt`s sad, but that`s state of the art[Verse Two: Tom Rockwell - Sudden Death]Every album that comes out is worse than the last oneCurses and a verse about how they`re gonna blast oneMumblin the lyrics off instead of really handlinThat way you can`t tell that they`re really just ramblinAnd most rappers can`t even handle that partSo they get a guest appearance by ever rapper on the chartsAnd when that leaves you feelin all cold and emptyThey just add another verse by a dead MCRappers nowadays come a dozen for a dimeBut true lyricists are nearly impossible to findI remember a time when I would hear RakimAnd go damn, I wanna be just like himToday it`s all about bein gangsters and pimpsIn real life most of `em are pranksters and wimpsThe real gangsters are out there buying the CD`sThe real pimps are the people in the record companiesSo don`t tell me you keep it real cause you come offAbout as real as the integrity at MicrosoftAnd like them you jam it down our throat every dayBut what kills me is it never used to be this wayI ain`t sayin that rap should stay the same for all timeBut the least they can do is make an attempt to rhymeIt`s like they got their lyrics on sale at the Qwik-E-MartIt`s pretty sad, but that`s the state of the art[Verse Three: Tom Rockwell - Sudden Death]What happen to the rappers who could freestyleFlow off the heads of the dome for a little while, goin wildOff of the dome flowin for a long timeAnd hey how about that - they would actually rhyme!Legends of the game have faded awayThey can`t rip it like they used to back in the dayAnd nobody stepped up to take their placeSo now the race continues on at a lumbering paceRun-D.M.C. ain`t the kings no moreLL`s about as funky as a canker soreWhodini disappeared and Doug E. Fresh went staleAnd I think Sir Mix-A-Lot got into some bad aleThe Fat Boys broke up and then one of `em diedAnd when I heard that, I sat down and criedCause I realized I`d never get to see them performIt was the end of an era that I had to mournToday`s rappers can`t cut it like they used toThere`s a couple that I like but I won`t say whoCause by the time this song is done those people might suckSo I`m not gonna press my luckI`m not trying to preach, I`m just ventin my frustrationAt the sense of apathy in the hip-hop nationIt`s spreadin all Hova like a rancid fartIt`s pretty sad, but that`s the state of the art
