Emerging UK production team First Man are well on their way to establishing themselves amongst the UKs best producers. First Man has a sound that is recognisable yet versatile, blending live instruments and soulful samples with cutting edge beats. Encompassing a wide spectrum of influences ranging from legends like Brian Wilson and Barry White to modern era hip-hop producers like Jay-Dee and Dr Dre. Formed in 2001, First Man consists of Adam Midgley and Jamie Reddington. Originally, members of a guitar band playing lead and bass respectively, Adam and Jamie have been writing music together since meeting at school. After making the transition to production, the initial breakthrough for First Man came in the UK Hip-Hop scene when they provided tracks for Skinnyman on his cult classic LP Council Estate Of Mind and on Fallacys Black Market Boy. The Skinnyman track 'Day To Day Basis' was one of the first tracks they ever produced and was featured in the hit motion picture 'Kidulthood' in summer 2006. During a hectic two years First Man have begun developing their own acts, started work on their own album project and have gone on to produce for some of the UKs hottest underground and most established artists as well as beginning their assault on the US hip hop scene. After working heavily with SonyBmg star Lemar on his 2nd platinum selling LP [Time To Grow including the biggest hit to date If Theres Any Justice] First Man have co-written material for his new LP The Truth About Love, Lemars third consecutive top 10 album. Giles Petersons new label Brownswood Recordings launched summer 2006 is set to release the first album on the label Brownswood Bubblers, the album features a First Man and Ayak track and is a hotly tipped showcase of new music hand picked by Giles himself. Going from strength to strength October 2006 will see the release of First Mans first collaboration with an American artist, after a chance meeting First Man have produced a track on the long awaited Hi-Tek album Hi-Teknology pt.2 a track witch features Talib Kweli in a return to the Reflection Eternal era. The First Man E.P. the first release of their own project is due out on Silent Soundz [www.silentsoundz.com] early 2007 and will feature the BBC radio 1-xtra A listed track How I Feel feat. Ayak and other exclusive new material with guests including Skinnyman and Black Twang amongst others. The E.P. will be accompanied by a Mixtape which will showcase the talents of these versatile producers featuring tracks by artists such as Skinnyman, Blak Twang, Sincere, Mr Ti2bs, MC Tali, Dynamite MC, Million Dan, Sway, Sef [So Solid] and others. So with Djs and tastemakers like Giles Peterson and Ras Kwame championing their music and even the US hip hop fraternity starting to knock on their door. First Man are one production team you need to keep an eye out for.
