Основатель группы Евгений PJ Потехин изначально играл в другой питерской группе — Amatory. Но незадолго до записи альбома Хлеб был призван в армию. В 2003 году, после армии, он основал группу Korea. С этого момента Korea сразу же заняла свою нишу в музыкальной среде, как неординарный и оригинальный коллектив. Дебютный альбом под названием На сломанных крыльях Korea записывает весной 2005 года. Через короткий промежуток времени группа снимает свой первый клип на песню «Полюса».
Второй альбом Пульс был записан летом 2007 года. Запись и сведению которого, проходила в датской студии Smart ‘n’ Hand, под руководством Jacob Bredahl.
7 июня 2009 Стас Рождественский покинул группу.
« К сожалению, по причине творческих разногласий и ещё ряда серьёзных причин я принял решение покинуть группу Korea. Все мы остаемся хорошими друзьями, но продолжать заниматься творчеством вместе более не представляется возможным.»
С начала 2010 группа официально сменила название на The Korea. Евгений Потехин это прокомментировал, сказав что смена названия с добавлением артикля "The" связана с новой ступенью в их музыкальном творчестве, однако фанаты имеют версию, что смена названия связана со шведской группой под названием "Korea".
"Колесницы богов" - третий студийный альбом группы The Korea, интернет-релиз которого состоялся 15 января 2012 года.
Это первый полноформатный альбом группы после изменения названия и стиля, а также первая пластинка группы, основной вокал на которой не записан Евгением PJ Потехиным.

The Korea is a Russian band from St. Petersburg mixing different styles of heavy music such as metalcore / alternative metal.
The band was formed in spring of 2003 in St.Petersburg. Since that moment Korea at once has carved its own niche in the musical environment as an extraordinary and original band. Experimenting with music and its styles band immediately draw attention, as an interesting product, each time emphasizing its own uniqueness. In 2004 they've released "DEMO". In the spring of 2005 Korea recorded the debut album under the name "On the broken wings" ("На сломанных крыльях")("Na slomannyh kryliah"). The record has received good responses not only from listeners, but also from colleagues of musicians. Little bit later band shoots the debut video on a song "Polusa". In the summer of 2007 Korea starts recording of the second album under the name "Pulse" ("Пульс"). Work on mix and mastering of the album passed in Danish studio “Smart ' n ' Hand studio”, under attentive control of Jacob Bredahl.

2) Korea was formed in Stockholm 2003 by Mikael ( vocals) and Dennis Ernstén (drums) and Mikael Raymond (guitars). Soon they found Robert Bunke (bass) to complete the band.
In 2003 the American producer Blake Althen contacted the band and together they produced a self titled EP. The band started to play the clubs of Stockholm and southern Sweden during the next couple of years.
Due to different views of the future sound of korea, the band parted ways with Blake Althen in 2005.
In 2006 the band begun to shape a new heavy sound which reached the attention of Vici Solum productions that signed the band in 2008.
koreas new sound can be described as a journey in different music styles with a Swedish melancholic spine. In essence, a beautiful array of harmonies and melodies, combined with a heavy rhythmic section, all tighted together with silky smooth vocals.
Influences can be traced to acts like Carpark North, Radiohead, A Perfect Circle, Tool, NIN and Depeche Mode.
All song writing is done collectively, where every member contributes and further develops presented ideas. This is one of the major factors of the multifaceted sound which can be experienced on the new CD titled "For The Present Purpose".

Korea is a one-man project of Olivér Bajzai who is also producing ambient music under the moniker Resn. His first album, Semmi Komoly (Nothing Serious) under the name Korea has been released on 17th of July via Bandcamp. Korea's quite unclassifiable music mixing the elements of pop, dark ambient, pop and industrial with downtempo electronica.
