The Ольви (Olvy) band started its history in the end of 2001 by forces of two young metalheads Тимофей Щербаков (Tim Scherbakov) (guitar) and Александр Разин (Alexand Rasin)(guitar, vocal). Soon the band completed its staff with bass-player Денис Кабанов (Den Kabanov) and Юрий Забельников (Yuri Zabelnikov) at the drums and composed several songs which were first time publicly performed at May 2002. After a short time 7 songs were completely arranged and recorded at the Moscow “R-Sound” studio. The ex-guitarist of the one of the most known Russian heavy-metal band Ария (Aria) Сергей Терентьев(Sergey Terent’ev) along with Tim Scherbakov made all sound producing and finished mixing of this album at September 2002. It was published under the name “Оступиться” (“Ostupit’sya” – “To take a false step”). After that in 2003–2004 Ольви played a lot of live gigs, participated in several radio heavy-metal oriented programs and at the same time changed its staff – new bassist Андрей Сергеев (Andrey Sergeev) and new guitarist Сергей Долбнев (Sergey Dolbnev) came aboard.
The renewed band worked on new material and some lyrics were written by well known rock poet Margarita Pushkina so the only obstacle on the way to the completion of the new record was that the previous vocalist Alexander Rasin has left the band. In 2004 Ольви recorded 10 tracks for new album and at the same time continued the search for new vocalist.
In 2005 Андрей 'AndyVortex' Лобашев (Andrey “AndyVortex” Lobashev) (the frontman of powermetal band Arida Vortex and one of the performers of the first Russian metal opera “Elven Manuscript” by Эпидемия (Epidemia)) joined Ольви as vocalist and up to the end of 2005 all vocal tracks were done. The band left the “R-Sound” studio and continued mixing of this album at the “Dreamport” studio with Max Samosvat and there it was decided to re-record several instrumental tracks and make some re-arrangements to achieve more powerful and interesting sound. At the summer 2006 the album was finished and Ольви appeared at the big Russian open-air festival “Emmaus” with new songs and renewed lineup. Soon after this the contract with publishing label CD-Maximum was signed and the new album named “Darkness and Light” was released.
In 2007 the band worked on new music material for a new album and a new bass-player Илья Егорычев (Ilya Yegorychev) (THE MORNING SIDE, CHRONICA, Ex-SHADOW HOST, Ex-SYMBOL, Ex-MENTAL HOME, Ex-E-ZONE) has joined OLVY. The new album was recorded in late 2007–2008 at the “Dreamport” studio with Max Samosvat as sound producer. Matering of the new songs was made by famous sound-engineer Goran Finnberg (Sweden). During the work on this album the drummer Yuri Zabelnikov has abandoned Ольви and his place at the drums was occupied by young talented drummer Денис Золотов (Denis Zolotov).
The new album was named “The Last Sky” and was released in March of 2009. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
