Major Figgas consists of several members, Gillie Da Kid, Dutch and Spade, Ab Liva, Bumpy Johnson, The 1st Lady Bianca, and Lil Ruckie (R.I.P). It began with childhood friends Gillie Da Kid and Rolx, who rapped together at Cabrini College with Bump J. The team of Dutch & Spade joined them, along with Ab Liva, and the group was completed by its sole female member, Bianca. By 1998, local tapes had brought them to the attention of the major record labels. but they released their debut album, Figgas 4 Life, independently in November 1999 before signing to Chris Schwartz's Philadelphia-based RuffNation Records, which had a manufacturing and distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records. The album was reconfigured for expanded release, with new tracks added, the first single, "Yeah That's Us," remixed, and the whole thing remastered. RuffNation/Warner Bros. released the new version of Figgas 4 Life on August 22, 2000, by which time "Yeah That's Us" was already in the R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts. While the group was signed to Ruff Nation, that didnt stop other record companies from signing members of the group to solo deals. GILLIE DA KID signed to Suave House, and then most notabley signing to Cash Money Records were he was signed as an artist but mainly used as a ghost-writer due to some publishing disagreements. AB LIVA met up with DR. DRE and signed to AFTERMATH were he to was signed as a solo artist, then linking up with Pharell and signing to STARTREK where he met up with the dynamic duo THE CLIPSE and is also an official member of THE RE-UP GANG (check the link for the CLIPSE). Big ups to the CLIPSE!! Dutch and Spade were signed to UNDEAS with Killa Kam as the lead artist off that label and CHARLIE BALTIMORE as the 1st LADY. Since then, alot has transpired but the Major Figga movement is still goin hard!! With Gillie The Kid as the front man and the Dutchmans versatile flow and sick word play...yall still cant fuck with the FIGGAS!!! P.A. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaall day! Read more on Last.fm.
