Информация о артисте

Once a Rock n' Roll powerhouse, the epic My Gay Uncle has fallen on trying times. Most widely known for their renditions of pop cover songs, MGU first stole the heart of a nation on MTV’s Ultimate Cover Band Contest. Sadly, unqualified and incompetent celebrity judge Eve was not a fan of the boy’s style, and the contest was lost. From one disappointment came a new hope, the raw and aspirant 2000 EP release of Drama. This selection of original compositions cemented MGU’s ascent into Rock n’ Roll greatness. Suffice to say that the 2002 full-length album To Kill A Rockingbird is a benchmark against which few albums in history can be measured and not deemed inferior. John Nugent (a.k.a Dalshime “The Don”) vitriolic songwriting electrified a generation, and the brilliant Simon Dwyer on guitar helped cement a sound so powerful few have been able to match. Perhaps the element of MGU that catapulted the group into super stardom was co-front man Jonathan Rivera (a.k.a Mr. 187), whose exceptional musical vision captivated a nation, starved for true Rock n’ Roll superstars. Since the superior release of Rockingbird, MGU has endured turmoil and a bitter breakup. Details of Simon Dwyer’s departure are still uncertain, but this hasn’t stopped speculation of new material being produced over the course of the last 3 years by Rivera and Nugent. Though they’ve taken a beating over the course of their career, few would write off at least the possibility for My Gay Uncle to rise, phoenix-like, from the ashes and reassert their claim to Rock n’ Roll’s mighty throne.
