The band was formed in Liverpool after the disbanding of the Crucial Three, when Ian McCulloch went on to form Echo & the Bunnymen, Julian Cope founded The Teardrop Explodes and Pete Wylie founded The Mighty Wah!
Wylie has performed as Wah!, shambeko! say wah! and wah! the mongrel over the years.
