Sultry recording artist KELITA was born in the Bronx and raised in Yonkers, NY. Her love for music was instilled in her from an early age by her Puerto Rican-born parents, particularly her father, who was raised in an evangelical family, and music was used as a form of worship in her childhood home. By the time KELITA was 5, she was already performing every chance she could in front of her whole family and in fact, anyone else who would listen. KELITA’s strong passion for music at a young age has stayed with her and sustained her through every situation, good or bad, in her life.
“Music has the power to transform me into anything I want to be,” says KELITA.
KELITA’s devotion to music led to her involvement in the club industry as soon as she was legally able to breeze past the velvet ropes. KELITA quickly began promoting for various nightspots, basking in the intensity of the club scene and living for the passion of the pounding beat of the music. One of the best things about being a club promoter for her was being able to watch hundreds of people having the time of their lives.
“I loved seeing how good music can bring so many people together and make them so happy,” says KELITA.
Her involvement in the club scene resulted in an introduction to celebrity agent Mike Esterman, who eagerly signed KELITA to a representation deal. Before long, the young beauty was booking numerous modeling assignments including a turn as a car show model for the Wyclef Jean Car Show at Nassau Coliseum. Out of all the models at the show, KELITA’s photo was chosen to grace the pages of the automotive publications Plush and Makes & Models. Most recently, KELITA won a spot as a semi finalist in the Maxim Hometown Hotties 2007 competition.
KELITA’s modeling success and high profile in the club scene was a natural catalyst that led to her introduction to renowned songwriter/producer/remixer Chris “The Greek” Panaghi of DJG Productions, Inc. who is widely known for producing and remixing the likes of top artists including Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Aqua, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion and countless others. After hearing KELITA sing, Panaghi wasted no time signing the talented rising star to a recording deal. She is currently hard at work, recording new material for her upcoming debut releases at Omega Studios.
“Modeling has been such a great opportunity for me, but my driving passion is music and something I am so excited to be involved in. I am thrilled to finally be part of the industry I love so much. Music is the fabric of my life, and I owe it all to my parents for teaching me that.”
KELITA’s musical style can be described as a mix of an edgy dance-pop sound with a not so traditional dance flavor, a brand new sound that is truly on the cutting edge of the future of electronic music.
