1. ROOT (Psychedelic/Space Rock • United Kingdom) began as a three piece in Leicester, playing pubs, selling demos and getting local press coverage. Eventually it was time to move on to new challenges.
Having very strong progressive rock influences, I was determined to go in that direction. Realising that it was not going to be suitable for pub gigs, I decided my only option was to record my songs.
I soon found out why one-man progressive acts are so rare. How does a Singer/Guitarist now play Bass like Chris Squire/Geddy Lee/Roger Waters, Keyboards like Rick Wakeman/Tony Banks/ Rick Wright, and Drums Like Neil Peart/ Phil Collins/Alan White/Bill Bruford, while still developing as a singer and guitarist?

2.Группа Root образовалась в Чехии в 1987 году. Поначалу они исполняли своеобразный вариант black metal'а: среднетемповый (даже с долей doom'а), с мистической атмосферой, дополненный не характерными для жанра ходами и с текстами на родном языке. С течением времени их музыка претерпела значительные изменения, развиваясь в сторону эпического dark/heavy metal. Каждый альбом группы обладает индивидуальностью. Но в любой период творчества лицо этой группы - Big Boss, основатель чешского отделения Церкви Сатаны, знаменитый характерной манерой пения, своеобразным сценическим имиджем, радикальными сатанинскими текстами да и просто возрастом - в 2002 году он отметил полувековой юбилей.

There are three bands with the name Root.
1) Root is a Czech metal legend from city of Brno founded in 1987 by Big Boss and Blackie. Root was one of the original pre-second-wave black metal bands, following in the footsteps of Bathory and Venom, while taking the genre in a more refined, less savage direction. Their style has since progressed towards a more epic, dark heavy metal sound with a clean-sung vocal approach, but their music can still be recognized as black metal at its core due to the unchanged ideology of the band. After the album Madness of the Graves (2003), Blackie left Root to concentrate on his band Cales. Blackie also played in side-project Entrails, an old school black-thrash metal band.
