Now broken up, the Denver-based punk group the Smiley Kids on RED EAR RECORDS played aggressive but melodic skate punk with a positive spiritual message. They're sound is along the lines of Screeching Weasel and Operation Ivy. They toured with Switchfoot on the Pants Across America Tour. They released one full-length album, Don't Get Bored (1999) and a fifteen song album entitled Still Smilin' After All These Years.
The Smiley Kids were most well known for their positive and uplifting lyrics. Their unique punk sound could be likened to Rancid on happy pills.
A few years after they disbanded, the group's lead singer/songwriter, George Fraska (Hosni), picked up the pieces and started "Smiley the Kid", an acoustic/punk version of the band.
