Информация о артисте

Существует две группы с названием Space:

2. Space are a British indie rock band from Liverpool, England, who came to prominence in the mid 1990s with hit singles such as "Female of the Species", "Neighbourhood" "Avenging Angels" and "The Ballad of Tom Jones". They worked with both Tom Jones in 1999 and Cerys Matthews a year earlier. The band had formed in 1993 and released four studio albums, plus a number of charting singles, before eventually disbanding in 2005. In 2011, two years after the death of original drummer Andy Parle, the band announced they would reunite with Tommy Scott, Jamie Murphy and Franny Griffiths returning alongside three new members.
Like many British bands from the 90s' era, the core of Space's sound was inspired by 60s' guitar groups such as The Kinks and The Who, yet their imaginative use of electronic instruments and sampling drew mostly from hip hop and classic film soundtracks which often made them stand out from their peers. The band were also known for their over-the-top, dark humoured lyrics, which often dealt with serial killers, failed relationships, social outcasts, and mental illness Read more on Last.fm. There are different bands under the same name:
1. A French synthpop group active in the 1970's and the 1980's
2. A British alternative rock group
3. An alias of Jimmy Cauty of The KLF
4. The project of an Australian guitarist active in the 2000's
5. A rapper signed to Black Eye Records
6. SpacE: A one-off project found on animator Yotam Perel's Newgrounds Audio page.

1) Space is a French group playing electronic and synthpop music, founded by Didier Marouani (known also under nickname Ecama). Song "Magic Fly" from their first album was a hit in the 70's. Space released three studio albums (Magic Fly, Deliverance, Just Blue), which became very influential in their subgenre. Creative differences led Marouani to leave the band around 1980, however the rest of Space released "Deeper Zone" LP in 1981. After it disbanded in 80's, Didier Marouani continued his career as solo artist before he got the brand name "Space" in the court around 1990, re-releasing classic albums and giving a concert tour. The latest Space album was released in 2002.

2) Space are a britpop band from Liverpool, who released a few prominent records (including top 20 hit single "Female of the Species" and the songs "Ballad of Tom Jones" and "Avenging Angels") and then fell back into obscurity, eventually splitting up in 2005. In 2009, following the death of ex-Space drummer Andy Parle the band members met at his funeral and this broke the ice between them. The band have now reformed and are working on a new album due for release in May 2012. They are notable for lead singer Tommy Scott singing in a very Liverpudlian accent - see "Neighbourhood" or "Me and You vs The World". The band also experimented with dance versions of their tracks - notably "Growler", the last track from their debut album.
Despite accusations of being a comedy or novelty act Space had more depth than may be immediately apparent - "Female Of The Species" was written as a tribute to Tommy Scott's late father, who loved Frank Sinatra. Scott wanted to write a song his father would have enjoyed.

3) Jimmy Cauty (of The KLF, The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, etc. and, briefly, of The Orb) released his solo ambient album Space under the artist name Space. The album - originally released as one continuous track - is, like The KLF's landmark LP Chill Out, a "journey" album in which the product is a soundtrack of/for a trip. In Space's case, this trip is one through our solar system.

4) Space is the moniker of the Australian-born guitarist for Memento, The Hiwatts, and Nine Times Bodyweight. Space's solo project was released in September of 2006 - you can hear his work at his official site as well as his personal mySpace page. Read more on Last.fm.
