У всех значительных проектов изначально были достаточно скромные истоки и «Comeback Kid» отнюдь не исключение. История группы берёт своё начало в 2000 году, в городке Виннипег (провинция Манитоба), Канада, когда будущий вокалист Скот Уэйд, устав от засилья махровой попсы, решил организовать свою группу. «Я хотел организовать группу, которая бы играла качественную музыку, совершенно не похожую на осточертевшую всем попсу, но я толком и не знал, с чего начинать. Вскоре я познакомился с Эндрю Ньюфелдом и предложил ему замутить группу вместе, он согласился и дело пошло», - вспоминает Скот.
Эндрю в то время был уже опытным музыкантом - он был вокалистом известной хардкор-команды «Figure Four». Вскоре к ним присоединились остальные члены коллектива, и новообразованная группа, как обычно, начала давать выступления в местных барах, клубах, забегаловках.. «Comeback Kid» вскоре приобрели некоторую известность и их уже начали приглашать на разогрев многие достаточно знаменитые альтернативные коллективы. Выступали временами они и на разогреве у «Figure Four». «Я опасался, что играть одновременно в двух группах будет очень трудно, что я не смогу, и мне придётся выбирать, в каком коллективе я захочу остаться, но я рад, что мои опасения не подтвердились, и я смог работать в этих двух проектах одновременно», - рассказывает Эндрю.
Спустя полгода «Comeback Kid», наконец, записывают шестипесенный демо-диск, который привлёк к музыкантам внимание многих рекорд-лейблов и обогатил группу небольшой армией фанатов даже за пределами их родного Winnipeg’a. «Основная идея наших песен – повествование о том, как человек преодолевает трудности, как ему тяжко и как, в конце концов, всё хорошо заканчивается. Любому человеку в своей повседневной жизни часто приходится испытывать трудности, а наши песни помогают их перенести более стойко. Воодушевившись успехом своего демо-диска, группа даёт микротур по Северной Америке, а в марте 2003-го записывает свой полноценный дебютный альбом «Turn It Around». В поддержку этого альбома «Comeback Kid» дают тур по Канаде, Северной Америке и Европе, совместно с такими группами, как «Terror» и «Everytime I Die», продлившийся до конца 2003-го и первую половину 2004-го года, вернувшись с которого группа начинает работу над своим вторым альбомом.
Начало 2005-го ознаменовалось подготовкой к выходу нового альбома «Wake The Dead», продюсерами которого стали Билл Стивенсон и Джейсон Ливермур.
Следом выходит альбом - "Broadcasting", датирующийся 2007 годом.
В 2010 году выходит четвёртый альбом ребят - Symptoms + Cures, которые высоко оценили как критики, так и фаны.

Comeback Kid is a Canadian hardcore band from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Formed in 2000, the band is signed to Victory Records. Their name comes from a headline in a newspaper about hockey player, Mario Lemieux coming back to the NHL. The band was formed in 2002 by Andrew Neufeld and Jeremy Hiebert who were both members of the band Figure Four, which is currently on hiatus. They were joined by their friends Scott Wade and Kyle Profeta, but CBK was originally intended only to be a side project. Their initial popularity was mainly due to word of mouth within the hardcore scene.
Upon releasing "Turn It Around" on Facedown Records in 2003, Comeback Kid began touring full-time, covering most of North America as well as Europe. They also appeared on many high profile hardcore festivals like Hellfest and Posi Numbers festival. Following the touring for "Turn It Around", Comeback Kid entered the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado to begin recording their sophomore full length.
In February 2005 Comeback Kid released "Wake the Dead", their first for Victory Records. After some long tours, vocalist Scott Wade left the band. Neufeld became the band's vocalist, and they began recording their third album "Broadcasting". The release of "Broadcasting" was followed by more steady touring, culminating with a summer long tour supporting Rise Against in North America, and their first appearance on the "Never Say Die" tour in Europe with Parkway Drive. By the end of 2007 the band was to take a short hiatus. At this time bass player Kevin Call left the band on good terms, issuing a statement regarding leaving Comeback Kid.
Call was replaced by Matt Keil who had played in Minneapolis area bands with Hjelmberg. Two more years of touring followed, with the band visiting South East Asia and Latin America for the first times.
In 2008 a CD / DVD was released called "Through the Noise" which is a line from the song "Industry Standards" off of "Broadcasting..." . The DVD is a documentary of the first 6 years of Comeback Kid. The CD is a live recording of a show in Leipzig, Germany filmed in fall 2007. A release tour in Canada followed, named the "Through the Noise Tour." It featured Bane, Misery Signals, Shai Hulud, Grave Maker, and Outbreak. While on this tour Gravemaker suffered a van accident with Neufeld in the vehicle, which inspired the song "G.M. Vincent and I" off 2010's "Symptoms + Cures".
After two years of international touring, the band spent much of 2010 writing and recording their fourth studio album, "Symptoms + Cures" which was released in Canada by Distort Entertainment and internationally by Victory Records. Two more installments of the "Through the Noise" tour followed in North America and Europe.
In early 2012 guitarist Casey Hjelmberg announced he would be leaving the band. Stu Ross of Misery Signals/Living with Lions will assume guitar duties.
Neufeld confirmed that the band is writing new material this moment, but the progress is quite delayed as the band has many touring plans at the moment. They're also planning a 10th Anniversary Show for the release of their first full-length record "Turn It Around", with their former vocalist Scott Wade in 2013.
On September 21, 2013, Comeback Kid stated on their Facebook page they would have started recording a new full-length album. Die Knowing, the band's fifth studio album, was released on March 4, 2014, through Victory Records.
On May 13, 2014, drummer and founding member Kyle Profeta announced his departure from the band, to focus on his culinary skills in South Africa.
