"Hymn From Above' s first release was a four song demo. They then got signed to Die Hard Records, issuing Die Hard's first release, the 6 song EP, Roses As The Last Gift. The EP was well recieved and Hymn From Above only got better and better from there. They issued this statement in the EP, regarding their name and it's supposed reference to religion, "Purely and entirely for the music, that's it. Labeling is going strong nowadys, but we just want to make the music, period. The name Hymn From Above is NOT a statement, it's a name. It means reach for what you believe in, not the Above everyone knows. Your personnal above. Your convictions. There are too many different ideologies in the band to qualify as one thing or be labeled. We are in it for the music." With their energetic and impressive live performance, HFA became popular in the Quebec Hardcore scene. Their next release was on the Diehard Montreal Hardcore Compilation, with the song Wingless Butterflies. Later that year, Hymn From Above released their Promo 2002 cd that they were giving out free at their shows. The cd was considered their best material so far and was to promote an upcoming full-length cd. The band broke up before that cd ever came out, but then later reformed under the name My Misery. My Misery [also] broke up too before ever releasing a full length cd."

The band members were Pat, Phil, Dennis and Guillaume.
