Информация о артисте

The Lovin' Spoonful - американская рок-группа, которая образовалась на рубеже 1965 года из остатков фолк-коллектива The Mugwumps после того, как часть его участников создала The Mamas & the Papas.

Также они написали музыкальное сопровождение к первому фильму Вуди Аллена, «What’s Up Tiger Lily?» Read more on Last.fm. The Lovin' Spoonful is an American pop/rock band founded by John Sebastian in the 60s, being one of the most popular groups of their native New York City. The band's name was inspired by lyrics from Mississippi John Hurt's "Coffee Blues". Most famous for the evergreen pop hit "Summer In The City", they also created songs such as "Do You Believe In Magic?", "Darling Be Home Soon", and "Daydream". Named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, they drew influence from contemporary folk and psychedelic music while also inspiring later rock bands.

The group's members of their most popular era included lead singer, guitarist, and autoharp player John Sebastian, guitarist Zal Yanovsky, drummer Joseph Campbell Butler, keyboardist/guitarist Jerry Yester, and bassist Steve Boone. Although facing many line-up changes, a version of the band with two members of the group from the pop stardom era continue to tour. Frontman John Sebastian is also notable for his solo musical career.

Even decades after the band rose into the Billboard top album charts with release after release, "Do You Believe In Magic?" was featured prominently in the popular 1999 film 'American Pie' while the AMC television series 'Mad Men' has had characters be fans of the band. The soundtrack to Woody Allen's 'American Pie' also featured many of the Lovin' Spoonful's songs. In addition, their work continues to be staples of ''classic rock' and 'oldies' radio stations nationwide.
