Группа «Arabesque» была создана в 1977 году (зарегистрирована в немецком городе Оффенбах в студии, которой владел известный в мире диско Фрэнк Фариан). В то время в Европе существовала мода на «дамские коллективы» или группы, в которых женский вокал был доминирующим: Baccara, ABBA, Boney M.
Состав группы Arabesque был непостоянным и в начале существования менялся несколько раз. Первоначальный состав, с которым был записан сингл «Hello Mr. Monkey», выглядел так:
Мэри Энн Нагел (Mary Ann Nagel), Карен Энн Теппериз (Karen Ann Tepperis), Михаэла Роуз (Michaela Rose).
Далее в группу вошла Хайке Римбо вместо Мэри Энн, и следующий состав Arabesque был таким: Карен Энн Теппериз (Karen Ann Tepperis), Хайке Римбо (Heike Rimbeau), Михаэла Роуз (Michaela Rose).

В настоящее время группа Arabesque в составе Михаэлы Роуз и двух новых певиц Sabine Kaemper и Silke Brauner даёт концерты в России, официально называется Arabesque feat. 1) Arabesque was a famous German disco music group formed in 1977, consisting of Sandra Cretu (joined the group in 1979), Jasmin Vetter, and Michaela Rose. After a split in 1984 Jasmin Vetter and Michaela Rose continued as the group "Rouge", while Sandra Cretu started her career in the group Sandra with Michael Cretu.
Arabesque was popular in Japan, selling more than 6 million albums there. They also had success in the USSR. In 1980 the single "Take Me Don't Break Me" became a hit, which only scraped the German Top 40. Their next single, "Marigot Bay", would become their single Top Ten hit a few weeks later. Their last singles "Ecstasy" and "Time to Say Goodbye", turned hits after their split, on various central, south and east European countries, because they sounded very close to the "Italo-disco" sound, a very popular music genre of the European Discotheques at that time. Those songs spread and gained success through LP compilations of dance/pop music and bootleg tapes, so the group never could take advantage of this success neither those songs turn on any kind of charts as "singles". That was a common problem for many '80s European artists. The last Arabesque singles introduced the "Italo-disco" sound to Japan, under the term "eurobeat", previously used in the UK for the Stock Aitken Waterman productions. That soon lead to Japan's Super Eurobeat music style.
On December 16, 2006 Arabesque (featuring Michaela Rose and two new members Sabine Kaemper and Silke Brauner) headlined the second Retro FM festival in Moscow.

They produce an interesting music pure mixture of rock, fusion and progressive elements.
But they has two female singers in his second album "The Union" (2002), very different from his debut album, "Beyond the veil", 8 years before. Though could be qualified as prog-metal is easier to listen to than other bands if you're not into that music style. A "lighter" Dream Theater...?
