Jamie Rivera is a pop singer from the Philippines. She was born Mary Jane C. Mendoza on August 29. She graduated from University of Santo Tomas.

Jamie’s actual training began when she joined the Metropolitan Theatre chorus in 1985. She decided to pursue her solo singing career by winning the prestigious search for G.A. Yupangco’s Yamaha Music Mate Girls contests while finishing her Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree major in Economics at the University of Santo Tomas. Soon after, Octoarts International recorded her 1st album entitled “Hey it’s me” which was also the title of her first major concert held at her mother theatre “ The Metropolitan Theatre”. She was able to complete five original albums for the same recording company.

She also had a chance to do the front act in Stevie Wonder’s concert in Manila in 1988. Her second major concert “Awit para Sa iyo” was held at the Main theatre of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 1990. Prior to her stint in Miss Saigon, Jamie was commissioned by the Department of Tourism to proudly represent the Philippines in Japan’s Expo ’90, an international exhibition of various cultural talents held every twenty years. In 1993, she was again made to represent the Philippines to the Seventh Asean Music festival in Brunei Darussalam.

She is currently the Chairman of the Kenny Rogers Roasters Musica. A musical competition targeted towards the youth with the aim of developing their talents and skills in music. Last July 4, 1999 she launched her newest album under ABS-CBN Star Records entitled “Feels So Right” with the carrier single “People Alone”. Read more on Last.fm.
