Hightower Tony - I Loved Annie First слова песни

Annie was a gangly little kid of 17When first she saw a movie up on the big screenMom & Dad both had to vent their spleenWhen Annie told them of her dreamShe took the classes and she took all the dietsShe learned to cry on cue and learned how to fightWent to the theatre every Tuesday nightReciting monologues in the moonlightBut I loved her firstAnd in my dreams, we kissed again and againI loved her firstShe ignores me now, like she did thenBut I loved her first, nyah nyah nyah nyah, called itAnnie`s friends were skeptical at bestSeeing her rehearse, they were far from impressedEven as she went to take her first screen testThey hoped it would make her less self-obsessedShe got her first part in a travelling playAway from home, and she preferred it that wayNo one else was around to have their sayNot that anyone`s complaining todayBut I loved her firstAnd in my dreams, we kissed again and againI loved her firstShe ignores me now, like she did thenBut I loved her first, nyah nyah nyah nyahThe parts came & went, & still she slogged onTill soon the gawky teenager was goneThe duckling disappeared, replaced by a swanA light toward which so many have since been drawnI wrote her a letter that I never did mailAnd I still buy her videos when they go on saleAnd all her so-called friends who were so convinced she`d failCome over and try to follow her vapor trail.
